PatBase offers a robust platform from which to search, review, share and analyze business-critical patent information. Produced by IP specialists Minesoft in partnership with RWS Group, PatBase is a global patent database covering over 106 authorities. The database hosts 140+ million patent and related documents organized into patent families to reduce duplication and save time whilst searching.
Latin and non-Latin texts are indexed together on PatBase, making it very intuitive to broaden a search across languages. Non-Latin text from Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Thai are also machine translated into English.
Straightforward search forms guide users through query building in PatBase. Any of these forms can be used to structure and combine search fields. Or, using the Command Line, create the query free form with guidance from our helpful Quick Guide of commands if needed. Command line allows use of keyword shortcuts for various commands.
Search queries can incorporate saved search histories and folders by reference. This allows for building on complicated search strategies over time. Search folders can be added to the history.
PatBase search language supports truncation and proximity operators to find variants or related terms based on a word-stem to broaden the search strategy. System allows multiple proximity and truncation's in succession.

There are many tools available in PatBase to search by or for classifications, including Classification Finder, Classification Explorer, PatBase Analytics, Snapshot and more.
This creates flexibility for topical exploration within a search set.
PatBase families are based on INPADOC family data. To save time for reviewers and to avoid duplication, PatBase families house all publications related to the same invention. In the Legal Information Browser module, priority information for each family is transparently illustrated in a straightforward grid. PatBase data is reviewed daily, to ensure the highest quality of information is upheld.
Applicant names can be viewed in the database.
Corporate trees are viewable and searchable in PatBase. Subsidiaries can be linked back to the parent company and groups can be created for analysis.
Keywords can be searched across all sections of the full-text or narrowed to just specific sections.
Annotate, flag, rate, make notes, and highlight individual results, saved results, search histories and folders. All additions are exportable, allowing you to draw focus to specific points or areas of shared results.
Terms to highlight can either be automatically determined from the search query or customised, with highlighting applied either to entire documents or relevant snippets identified (Keyword in Context).
Jump to highlighted terms quickly while viewing full-text documents. The number of keyword hits within the title, abstract, claims and description are displayed and summarised in a table in the full-text viewer.
Whole documents can be machine-translated with just a few clicks. English machine translations are searched simultaneously with all English-language texts.
View the results and easily view both backward and forward citations.
Search results can be sorted according to relevancy, date, name, most cited, family number and more.
Customize display view and compress results for scannability or expand view for a more detailed display. Hide or show images in results.

All patent data can be exported. Full-text, citations, classifications, original patent documents and legal status. Various file formats are available for download, including Word, HTML, Excel, PDF and more. Create custom export templates and save for future use.
Records can be shared using published links, folders or exported documents. Include notes, descriptions and highlighting to provide colleagues and clients with value-adding information. This is possible even if recipient does not have a login for Patbase/Patbase Express.
PatBase non-patent literature includes industrial designs, links out to related journals and periodicals for further research, and non-patent citations.
The Non-Patent Literature search module supports DOI, ISSN and ISBN searching.
