Similarity search

Similarity searches in Orbit Intelligence allow users to broaden their search using advanced algorithms created by patent experts. The similarity covers semantic concepts, citations, classifications, priority data and other factors.

Similarity search can also be used to refine result lists. If a user has too many results, they need only review the most relevant records and use the similarity search to find amongst the large result set, the patents most similar to the ones they have reviewed already.

Orbit Biosequence allows users to do sequence searching in a fully featured patent platform. It is made for IP searchers, allowing users to see sequence alignments in a patent and family context. OBS allows you to search DNA/RNA, peptides and proteins using NCBI Blast v2.7.1+. Our sequences are retrieved from our FAMPAT patents and also from NPL

Orbit Chemistry is a fully integrated molecule search within Orbit Intelligence. It allows users to search all chemical synonyms at once via text search or Markush molecule drawing combined with the usual search fields such as keywords or standardized applicant name.

Questel created their online patent search service over 25 years ago. Ever since, they have been using their expertise in the patent industry to work on data quality improvement. They have created enhanced patent family structure that uses the rules of a simple family (same priority), US divisionals, Japanese 'brothers', PCT extensions and other factors.

Users can benefit from concept extraction, key content, main claims, translation, company corporate tree, company revenue data and many other enhanced data quality.

Questel's FamPat family groups the different publication stages of the whole family members. Questel has developed a definition of the family that combines the strict family rule of the EPO with complementary rules that take into account links with the EP and/or PCT, plus the links between US provisional application and US published applications. The FamPat family also takes into consideration the notion of different invention definitions defined by different patent offices, which is particularly useful for the search of Japanese publications.

Orbit Intelligence offers three level of analysis: Essential, Advanced and Premium. All users have access to the same quality search and collaboration options.
All users have at least Essential analysis possibilities which helps analyze basic trends. This is sufficient for novice users to get a general understanding of their data through automatically created dashboards.
Advanced analysis provides more customization capabilities and tools which help to better understand the content of the analyzed datasets. This is ideal for users doing large patent landscapes and need more than basic trends.
Premium access, with advanced charts and options allows the differentiation of patent portfolios according to their qualitative metrics and scores. This level is for extensive benchmarking, gaining business or competitive intelligence as well as advanced data categorization.

Orbit Intelligence offers a wide range of alerts to track new players, new filings by competitors, and changes in legal status on patents of choice among many others. Alerts can be received within one's work space which allows for effective collaboration internally. You can also send alerts automatically to external users in more than six different customized formats including Excel, PDf and Xml.

Orbit Intelligence provides the possibility to collaborate with internal users as well as external users.

You have the possibility to add notes, star rankings, customized fields (for categorization), attachments, related web links and other data. An administration software is available which can help decide which users to give access to specific work files. Certain functionalities can be deactivated for example the notes.

Users have access to industrial designs for 70 jurisdictions. Non-patent literature includes over 160 million records including scientific articles, clinical trials, projects & grants, invention disclosures, conference proceedings, thesis studies and many others.

Users can also obtain data on company investments, mergers, acquisitions, collaborations and networks, news and company size provided by co-partners such as Factset and Crunchbase.
